Unpacking the set. What's included.
Unpacking the VEX EDR set and learning the names of the different parts included in the set
The robot is not constructed
When you unpack the sets it will not look like this. This is our constructions that we would share in the next couple of lessons.
The CORTEX controller
Can control the motors and receive inputs from the sensors.
The battery
Gives power to the
Motors
We have only two motors in the set
Motors Drivers
We attache the motors to the drivers and the drivers to the controllers.
Metal parts
You can use them to actually construct the body of the robot. Tools are also included with the nuts and bolts.
Joystick
We can send commands to the controller using the joystick. With it we have two network receivers to establish a network communication between the controller and the joystick
Sensors
Sensors are for sensing the environment of the VEX EDR robot. You can attach them to the constructions and connect them to the Cortex controller.
Chargers
We have a charger for the batteries for the joystick and smart charger for the power pack.
USB cable
With the cable we connect the controller to the computer and download the different programs that we develop.
Register and download the RobotC software
To control the VEX Cortex controller we must use a software. In this episode we would download the software from the VEX site. Strange thing is that you must select your region correctly even if you are not in this region
VEX Site
Log in as a customer on the site. Depending on your location you might have to change your region. If you mess up the region it might not be possible for you to login.
In the orders section we have a software download. We must download RobotC for VEX Robotics
Install and configure RobotC software
After we've download the software we must install it and most importantly configure it. Without propertly configuring the software it would be difficult to use the Cortex Controller.
Nothing special in installing
There is actually nothing special in installing. It is actually just Next, Next, Next
Configuring
In the configuration we must select the right firmware that we are using. Check out the video to see how.
