A robot a 'day'. Finish the construction yourself. Attach wheels Pro Preview

There are constructions, especially on our platform, that you could build partially and then experiment with different ways to complete them. This is a very good exercise for creativity. It is sometimes difficult to build a whole robot from scratch, but finishing the robot with a few wheels and attachments is doable.

Partially Build Constructions

The Earl bot is an example of such a construction. It has an interesting mechanism for grabbing objects. But this is not the first thing you must do with this robot. First, you must finish the construction yourself.

Third, castor, wheel attachment

In the materials section of this video tutorial, we've added different examples of third wheels. You can always use the LEGO Steel Ball, but there are more ways to build castor wheel. Explorer them and decide and what to use.

Third Wheel Construction 1

Building a third wheel for a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Robot is always an interesting and challenging task. These building instructions are for a third back wheel. You can even notice that there is no wheel involved. It is just LEGO parts but it is one of the most stable ways to build a third wheel. There is some friction, of course, but not that much.

Third Wheel Construction 2 for LEGO Mindstorms Robot

Another building instruction for a third wheel suitable for a LEGO Mindstroms robot. This one is classical. Just a few parts but could be used on a lot of different robots. There is some friction when turning so this one is more suitable if you have to do more straight movements.

Third Wheel Construction 4 for LEGO Mindstorms robots

Classical third wheel for LEGO Mindstorms robots. This construction comes from the NXT world and the wheel is available in the NXT set.

Third Wheel Construction 3

Third version and a third way to build a third wheel for a LEGO Mindstorms EV3. The instructions are easy to follow and in the end you will be able to attach this wheel to your robot by yourselves.
