Many students will feel compelled to do the whole maze at once and they won't be able to understand their mistake. From the start of the class discuss and even warn students to correctly mark when they start a task and to do the tasks one by one. In this way they would be able to quickly identify where are they making a mistake.

In today's class the teacher should be more of an observer than a teacher. Students will practice independence when checking and completing their tasks on their own. Regularly congratulate the students for the progress their are making. Make sure everybody is participating. In the classes in which the students are more independent, the more active students are trying to take over and do the whole task without letting their more passive partners work. Here are a couple of techniques to correct this behavior:

  • When you first observe a more active student not allowing a more passive student to do any work warn the student and allow them to correct.
  • Forbid the more active student to work on the computer for 10 minutes.
  • Forbid the more active student to work on with the robot for 10 minutes.
  • Request from the more passive student to explain how does the block for ultrasonic sound works along for the block for motor. Sometimes students do not participate when they do not understand how to complete the task and they are ashamed to ask for help.
