Some additional information about the aircraft carriers, if you think that you have the time:

  • Pick a starting position for the medium motor. How many degrees does it have to rotate in order the tires to touch the base of the paper plane?

In this task the goal of the students is to find how many degrees does the medium motor have to rotate in order to launch the plane in the air. In our case it's 128 degrees.

Afterwards, for the first task of programming and theory they have to show what they've learned for unlimited loop in lesson 3. If someone has slowed down before that, he/she could finish with the tasks here and simply launch the plane in the air by moving the tires towards each other with a hand.

In the second tasks the students have to figure out a way to detect the lever. In the program below is one of the possible ways to do it - with a wait block for a change in a given direction.

In the third task students have to complete the program - after the lever is detected, the tires move towards each another and the plane takes off.

In the bonus tasks students repeat pretty much the same operations, but backwards.

Detecting when the lever is pulled back and as a result the tires separate from one another. Put it in a loop.
